Ukraine to invite bids for Ports Kherson and Olvia by June

by Kali Persall

The Government of Ukraine will launch tenders to develop the Kherson and Olvia Ports in southern Ukraine under a public-private partnership by June 2019, InfraPPP reported earlier this week.

The Kherson Port is located approximately 9 miles from the right bank of the Dnepr River. The Olvia Port is located 1.5 miles from Nikolaev and 37.6 miles from Ochakov, on the left bank of the Dnieper-Bug estuary.

Port Kherson’s concession will take place over an estimated 30 years, with an investment of an estimated UAH 1.4 billion ($52.9 million), and Port Olvia 35 years at UAH 17.3 billion ($654 million). The investment will go toward upgrading infrastructure and port development.

The tender process will launch following feasibility studies, which are backed by the World Bank, the International Finance Corp., the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and other international partners, according to InfraPPP.
