The United States and Japan have signed a cooperative agreement to push forward private-sector solutions in support of infrastructure investments and the burgeoning energy sector.
According to a statement issued Feb. 4, the countries will work together to address regulatory, market and legal barriers to private-sector investment and boost infrastructure investments between the United States and Japan, among other initiatives.
“The agreement signed today is a testament to our shared commitment to advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific through quality infrastructure investment that ensures openness, transparency, economic efficiency and debt sustainability,” said Brent McIntosh, U.S. Treasury Department undersecretary for international affairs.
