U.S. drillers add oil and gas rigs for first time since March

by Andrea Zander

U.S. energy firms added oil and natural gas rigs for the first time since March as some shale producers reverse production cuts with oil prices recovering from historic lows caused by a slump in fuel demand amid coronavirus lockdowns, reported Reuters.

Prior to this week, the rig count hit record lows for 15 weeks. U.S. oil rigs rose by 11 to 183 this week, also their biggest rise since January. Gas rigs fell by one to 69.
