U.K. residential investment totals €2.4b in Q2 2022

The U.K. residential sector recorded a total of £2 billion (€2.39 billion/$2.42 billion) of investment in second quarter 2022, according to CBRE.

This represents a decrease of 20 percent when compared to the same period in 2021, when investment volumes reached £2.5 billion (€2.98 billion/$3.03 billion). However, year-to-date transaction activity, combined with current pipelines, point to investment volumes reaching a record total for 2022, notwithstanding headwinds from rising debt costs and higher construction costs.

Build-to-rent residential (BTR) accounted for 65 percent of total investment for the quarter at £1.3 billion (€1.55 billion/$1.58 billion), 59 percent higher than second quarter 2021. More than 80 percent of capital was deployed across the regions, with investors attracted to the yields on offer in these markets.
