The U.K. government is funneling £300 million ($372 million) into research infrastructure across the United Kingdom.
The investment, made through the U.K. Research and Innovation (UKRI), a non-governmental organization of the United Kingdom that directs research and funding, is expected to maintain and refresh existing scientific infrastructure and strengthen research and innovation across the United Kingdom, according to a statement by UKRI.
“World-class facilities and infrastructure are integral to the U.K.’s exceptional research and innovation system,” said professor Dame Ottoline Leyser, CEO of UKRI. “We welcome this announcement and the government’s continued commitment to investing in a research and development system that will improve lives and fuel national prosperity.”
