Two new data centers planned for India

by Kali Persall

India will be the site of two new data center hubs within the next couple of years, Press Trust of India (PTI) reports.

The first facility, a 1,500-rack national data center, will be located in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, on five acres of land, which was allotted to National Informatics Centre (NIC) by the Madhya Pradesh government. It will include infrastructure for complete operational and management support of the facility, according to PTI. The project has already broken ground.

The second data hub, a 200-rack national data center, will be established in the northeast in Guwahati, Assam. Development of the project has yet to commence.

Both data centers are expected to be completed in two and a half years.

According to Data Economy, India’s data center market is expected to see $10 billion in investments over the next six years, with $3 billion to be spent on data center development alone.
