Tutor Perini Corp. has announced that the board of directors of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved the award of a $410 million contract to the Frontier-Kemper/Tutor Perini Joint Venture for the Purple Line Extension Section 3 Tunnels Project.
The project involves the design and construction of twin bored tunnels for future Purple Line subway service spanning approximately 2.6 miles between Century City and the VA Hospital in Westwood. The subway extension will provide a high-capacity, high-speed, dependable transit alternative for those traveling to and from Los Angeles’ Westside.
Work is expected to commence in the next 90 days with substantial completion anticipated in the fourth quarter of 2022. The contract value will be included in the Company’s second quarter 2018 backlog.
