The Tunisian government has plans to invest $5 billion in electricity and other energy projects from 2018 to 2020.
The electrical projects include the construction of a submarine power- transmission line, with a transmission capacity of 600 megawatts. The infrastructure to link the country to Italy is expected to cost over $ 735 million.
Tunisia would also build two power plants with a capacity of 450 megawatts each.
The country will also invest $4.5 billion in renewable energy by 2030 to double its current share (3 percent) in the national energy mix.
