Trump administration makes big 5G investment, while China leads the world in 5G development

The White House and Department of Defense (DOD) announced that 100 megahertz (MHz) of contiguous mid-band spectrum, in the 3.450-3.550 MHz band, will be available for 5G by the end of the summer.

A statement from the White House said the move will “improve every industry and the lives of all Americans.” The auction is planned for December 2021, with companies being able to start using the spectrum in 2022.
