by Jody Barhanovich

The $139.7 billion Teacher Retirement System of Texas has appointed Jerry Albright as its new chief investment officer, according to news sources.

He replaces T. Britton Harris III, who was named president, CEO and chief investment officer of University of Texas Investment Management Co., which manages $39.4 billion in assets from UT and Texas A&M, and will begin that position on Aug. 1, according to sources.

Prior to the new position, Albright served as the deputy CIO of the pension fund since 1992, according to his LinkedIn page. Albright is also chairman of TRS’ internal investment committee and sole director of Teacher Retirement Investment Company of Texas London, the pension fund’s first international office.
