TC Energy to sell holdings in natural gas power plants for C$2.87b

by Kali Persall

TC Energy has agreed to sell its holdings in three natural gas power plants to Toronto-based Ontario Power Generation for a total consideration of C$2.87 billion ($2.2 billion) Bloomberg reported July 31.

The assets include the 683-megawatt Halton Hills power plant, the 900-megawatt Napanee generating station, and 50 percent of the 550-megawatt Portlands Energy Centre.

The deals are slated to close later in 2019 and will bring TC Energy to C$6.3 billion ($4.7 billion) in capital raised from portfolio management activities this year.

In early July, the company agreed to sell the U.S. midstream assets held by its subsidiary, Columbia Midstream Group, to UGI Energy Services for approximately $1.275 billion.

The transactions are still subject to regulatory approvals.
