by Kali Persall

Swiss Life Asset Managers has appointed Stephane Rainard to head of infrastructure debt, based in France. Rainard stepped into the new role this month.

Earlier in his career, Rainard worked as a senior portfolio manager at Ostrum Asset Management and as the executive director of infrastructure debt fund management for institutional investors at Natixis, among other positions.

In 2019, Swiss Life completed a first close for its third core infrastructure fund, Swiss Life Funds (LUX) Global Infrastructure Opportunities III, with €825 million ($912 million) in capital commitments. The 25-year fund focuses on direct core infrastructure investments in Europe and North America in the regulated networks, transport, energy, renewable energy, telecommunications and social infrastructure sectors.

As of November 2019, Swiss Life managed more than €5 billion ($5.5 billion) of committed capital in the infrastructure space across several different funds.
