ReFeel New Energy (RNE), a portfolio company of SUSI Partners, has secured a 15-year capacity market contract for a fully authorized battery energy storage (BESS) project in Italy.
The 15-year contract for €47,000 ($53,122) per megawatt per year was awarded at Italian transmission system operator Terna’s capacity market auction for the delivery year 2027.
RNE’s BESS project, which has a peak capacity of 52 megawatts and can deliver a maximum of 207 megawatt-hours throughout a four-hour discharge duration, was the only BESS project in the Tuscany region that won a contract. The project received full authorization in December 2024 and is entering construction in third quarter 2025, with commercial operations to start by first quarter 2027.
