Survey reveals 40% of people in U.K. are considering moving

Some 40 percent of people in the United Kingdom are considering moving to a different location as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a recent survey by professional services company GHD.

The proportion of those considering moving was higher among people living in urban areas (51 percent) and city centers (48 percent) than those living in suburban (34 percent) and rural areas (28 percent).

The most popular reasons given for wanting to move were to get more space to make working from home easier; to live in a cleaner air environment; to have better local access to nature; and to live in a more environmentally sustainable location.

The results showed that more respondents in the United Kingdom were considering moving than in any of the other countries surveyed, which were the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
