Where are we in energy transition? And how do energy transition investments fit into institutional portfolios? These are a couple of the questions John DiMarco, a managing director with Igneo Infrastructure Partners, tackles in a Q&A about the state of energy transition and related investment, published in the July/August issue of Institutional Investing in Infrastructure (i3).
“Energy transition is a continuum and will take a long time,” says DiMarco. “Certain areas of industry have made great progress in decarbonizing, and others have a long way to go. … In 2024, the renewable share of electricity generation is about 22 percent in the United States, including hydro. It was one-fourth of that 10 years ago. That’s meaningful, but it leaves a huge gap.”
