Sustainability and the global transition to clean energy present infrastructure investors with a challenge, a responsibility and an excellent investment opportunity, according to a Q&A with members of Apollo Global Management’s private equity, infrastructure and climate teams, which was published in the October issue of Institutional Investment in Infrastructure. Taking a private equity approach to energy-transition investment, Apollo’s Christine Hommes, partner, private equity says, “Our approach is very much centered around value creation, and we feel strongly that decarbonization not only helps from an exit-strategy perspective but also has strong ROI-positive levers in the near-to-medium term.”
“We believe that with $4.5 trillion in annual investment required to achieve the global energy transition by 2050, private capital has a significant role to play,” says Jonathan Silver, senior adviser and Global Climate Council chair with Apollo.
