South Dakota Public Utilities Commission has approved Geronimo Energy to develop a 400-meagwatt wind farm in Clark County, South Dakota.
The project involves a wind power plant consisting of up to 120 turbines and an associated 5.2-mile 345-kV overhead transmission line.
The wind farm is expected to start operations by the fourth quarter of 2019.
In addition, Geronimo Energy plans to build a 200-megawatt solar project in rural Cass County in North Dakota.
The $320 million Harmony Solar Project spans 1,600 acres. If built, the Harmony Solar Project would be the first major utility-scale solar project in North Dakota.
Geronimo plans to start construction on the Harmony Solar Project in 2019 and expects to start operating the project in late 2020.
