South Dakota becomes latest investor in Starwood Distressed Opportunity Fund XII Global

The $16.4 billion South Dakota Investment Council has joined a list of U.S. pension funds in backing the Starwood Distressed Opportunity Fund XII Global, an opportunistic fund managed by Starwood Capital Group.

South Dakota has earmarked $150 million for Starwood’s latest fund, a spokesperson for the pension fund confirmed in an email. This is a follow-on commitment, building on South Dakota’s long standing partnership with Starwood Capital. The pension fund previously committed to the Starwood Distressed Opportunity Fund IX, Starwood Global Opportunity Fund X, and Starwood Opportunity Fund XI Global, prior to the most recent investment in Starwood Distressed Opportunity Fund XII Global.
