South Australian government launches RFP for hydrogen production, generation

by Kali Persall

The Office of Hydrogen Power South Australia has launched an RFP for the delivery of 250 megawatts of hydrogen production, 200 megawatts of hydrogen-powered generation, and to support hydrogen storage infrastructure under the Hydrogen Jobs Plan.

The hydrogen facility will be owned and operated by the South Australian government and will be constructed and operating by the end of 2025.

The government of South Australia is seeking to maximize the benefits from a capital investment of A$593 million ($367 million) to demonstrate South Australia’s scalable green hydrogen superpower opportunity for low-cost production of green hydrogen and the storage and use of green hydrogen. This will help to accelerate the decarbonization of South Australian industry, including through the operation of a world-leading green hydrogen-fueled power station and catalyze associated hydrogen industry jobs, investment and export opportunities.
