by Andrea Zander

Renewable energy business Simec Zen Energy, the Australian energy arm of Sanjeev Gupta’s GFG Alliance, has unveiled plans for A$1.38 billion ($1 billion) of clean energy investment in South Australia’s Upper Spencer Gulf. The plan will generate 1 gigawatt of energy capacity in South Australia.

Its first project is a 280-megawatt solar park, Cultana Solar Farm, near Whyalla, South Australia, that will be capable of generating 600 gigawatts per hour of electricity annually. It expects to obtain development approval in the fourth quarter and initiate construction activities in the first trimester of next year.

A second PV project under the plan is in development and will be located close to the Cultana Solar Farm.
