Siemens Gamesa chosen to supply turbines for 231-MW Swedish wind project

Foresight Group and Swedish project development firm Arise have selected Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) to supply equipment for Foresight Group’s recently acquired 231-megawatt Skaftåsen project in Sweden.

Arise sold the wind park to Foresight Group in December for an undisclosed amount, according to various news sources. Under the contract, SGRE will supply 35, SG 5.8-155 wind turbines for the project, which will be the first in the world to be equipped with SGRE’s wind turbines with a capacity of 6.6 megawatts each.

According to SetterWalls, which advised Arise throughout the divestment process, Siemens Gamesa 5.8-155 wind turbines are the most powerfully geared onshore wind turbines on the market.

Arise will manage the construction and, once operational, manage the project on behalf of Foresight through construction and asset management agreements.
