The Securities and Exchange Commission has ordered nine RIAs to pay a combined total of $1.24 million in civil penalties over allegations that their advertisements contained “untrue or unsubstantiated statements of material fact or testimonials, endorsements, or third-party ratings that lacked required disclosures,” reported the Financial Advisor.
Those charged included Abacus Planning Group and TS Bank, doing business as Callahan Financial Planning.
