Scout Clean Energy signs PPA for 220MW Minnesota wind farm

by Kali Persall

Scout Clean Energy, a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with the Minnesota Municipal Power Agency to acquire the entire 200-megawatt renewable energy capacity from Three Waters Wind Farm.

The 45,000-acre Jackson County, Minn., wind farm is slated for construction in 2021. Upon completion, the farm will utilize 71 of the latest generation GE 2.82-megawatt wind turbines.

The agreement marks Scout’s first investment in Minnesota and expands Scout’s asset portfolio in the Midwest.

Quinbrook, a global investor specializing in low carbon energy infrastructure, has invested more than $1 billion of equity capital in at least 1,500 megawatts of wind, solar, landfill gas, waste methane and gas-fired CCGT projects, spanning three continents.

Together, Quinbrook and Scout have rapidly expanded their wind project portfolio to more than 2.3 gigawatts of potential renewable power capacity, spanning 13 projects in 10 states across the United States.
