San Francisco Employees calls on pension funds to combat COVID-19

The $25 billion San Francisco Employees Retirement System (SFERS) has issued a call to action for all pension funds — especially those that support hospitals — to join in a larger effort to combat COVID-19.

SFERS has asked all pension funds to request that companies in the S&P 500 Index to report what actions they are taking to fight COVID‐19.

“COVID‐19 is the largest global public health crisis in 100 years,” stated SFERS. “It threatens the lives of millions of people. As we have learned in recent days, our nation’s healthcare system is in need of assistance from private industry to manage a large‐scale pandemic such as COVID‐19.”
