San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS) has approved a $30 million commitment to the Oaktree Real Estate Opportunities Fund VIII, according to minutes from the pension fund’s Sept. 10 investment committee meeting.
 Oaktree Real Estate Opportunities Fund VIII is a closed-end diversified credit distress fund with a primary focus on U.S. opportunities.
The fund opened to investors in early this year with a target of $3.5 billion. The Minnesota State Board of Investment also contributed $100 million to the fund this year, which has raised more than $1 billion to date.
