San Diego County Employees appoints its first woman CEO

Tracy Sandoval has been appointed as the new CEO of the San Diego County Employees Retirement Association (SDCERA) following a nationwide search that attracted more than 80 applicants.

Sandoval will be the first woman to lead SDCERA as CEO in its 81-year history.

Sandoval was unanimously chosen for the role because of her management skills, experience and financial acumen, said Richard Tartre, board chair, in a statement. She currently serves as the assistant chief administrative officer and before that was the county’s CFO, where she was responsible for managing the county’s $6.5 billion annual budget.
