by Kali Persall

Samsung SDS has opened its new data in Chuncheon, South Korea.

The 10-acre campus, located in the capital of Gangwon Province, will become the company's strategic location to expand its cloud business and reduce its heavy reliance on sister companies, reports The Korea Times.

Completed in June, the new 39,780-square-meter (428,188-square-foot) data center includes six server rooms, a solar array capable of producing 180 kilowatts of electricity and eight emergency generators, according to Data Economy. The facility is reportedly equipped with eco-friendly, high-tech facilities and utilizes renewable energy to maximize energy efficiency.

The launch marks Samsung SDS’s fifth data center in South Korea.
