Salford City Council and University of Salford launch tenders for £2.5b Salford Crescent project

by Kali Persall

The Salford City Council and University of Salford in the United Kingdom are looking to appoint a private sector partner (PSP) to develop and construct a range of schemes within the £2.5 billion ($3.2 billion) Salford Crescent and University District Masterplan over the next decade.

Salford Crescent will span 100-hectare (247-acre) in the greater Manchester area. The masterplan has been divided into five development zones, each with a key role in delivering transformation to the area — namely Adelphi, Peel Park, Health Quarter, and Innovation District.

Salford City Council and The University of Salford have been working with 5plus architects and CBRE since summer 2017 to prepare the Salford Crescent and University District Masterplan.

The selected private partner will provide a range of professional services, including delivering the masterplan and the project, while working closely with the partners over the contract period, reported InfraPPP on May 20.

The contract will span 10 years, with an opportunity to extend for five additional years.

The closing date for submissions is June 14 at 12 p.m., according to the Salford Crescent Masterplan website.
