Sacramento County Employees backs Ridgewood water and infrastructure fund

Sacramento County Employees Retirement System (SCERS) has slated $50 million for the Ridgewood Water & Strategic Infrastructure Fund II, according to a recent investment report.

Ridgewood Water & Strategic Infrastructure Fund II, a vehicle managed by Ridgewood Infrastructure, targets water-related and other strategic infrastructure assets in the U.S. lower middle market.

In July, the fund had secured more than $672 million toward its $1 billion fundraising target.

Ridgewood’s previous investments include assets and businesses in the water, energy transition, transportation and utilities sectors.

SCERS’ real assets portfolio is primarily composed of infrastructure as well as energy and power partnerships, according to a Dec. 31, 2021, quarterly investment report. At that date, the real assets portfolio had a 57 percent exposure to infrastruct
