Madrid-based energy company Repsol has acquired three renewable energy projects in Spain as part of its commitment to an efficient and sustainable energy transition.
The projects include a 335-megawatt wind farm in Zaragoza and a 255-megawatt wind farm located between Palencia and Valladolid, as well as a 204-megawatt photovoltaic solar power plant in Cadiz. Together they will provide a combined output of 794 megawatts; enough to power 650,000 homes annually, according to Repsol.
The assets are expected to start producing renewable energy within the next four years. Combined, they are expected to save 2.3 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
With the acquisitions, Repsol will have achieved 90 percent of its strategic objective to operate 4,500 megawatts of low-emissions generation by 2025.
The company has a total installed capacity of 2,952 megawatts and planned projects worth 1,083 megawatts, including the three new assets.
