Recurrent Energy announces initial closing of $500m investment from BlackRock

BlackRock’s climate infrastructure business has closed a $500 million investment in Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar and a global developer, owner and operator of solar and energy storage assets.

Recurrent Energy is one of the world's largest clean-energy project development platforms, having developed, built and connected more than 10 gigawatts peak of solar projects and 3.3 gigawatt-hours of battery energy storage projects on six continents.

The initial closing of the transaction, first announced in January 2024, was contingent on requisite regulatory approvals and other conditions, which have now been met. It is being made via the BlackRock Climate Infrastructure Global Renewable Power Fund IV.
