Real estate must find its place in a changing world, according to global investors

Concerns about the global geopolitical situation remain top of mind for institutional investors. According to the 2026 Institutional Real Estate Investor Trends report, Institutional Real Estate Inc.’s annual survey of global investor sentiment which released in April, this is likely to affect investment plans and allocations to commercial real estate in 2026.

This year’s survey is the 30th conducted by Institutional Real Estate, Inc. and the 13th year as a global initiative. As Geoffrey Dohrmann, chairman and CEO of IREI, noted in a briefing to publication sponsors on the results of the survey, “It isn’t just a sentiment poll. It’s a window into how allocators are going to behave and what they will fund. And that has been proven out over the last 30 years we have been doing this.”
