Quinbrook’s Supernode BESS project connects to Queensland grid

Specialist global investment manager Quinbrook has announced that the first stage of the Supernode project has achieved backfeed energization.

This is a major milestone signifying that the stage 1 substation of Supernode battery energy storage system (BESS) project is now energized from the Queensland transmission system via a dedicated connection to Powerlink’s Southpine substation.

Brian Restall, CEO and regional leader for Quinbrook, said backfeed energization is a critical step toward Supernode achieving full commercial operations.

Supernode is strategically located adjacent to the central node of the electricity network in Queensland and is one of the largest BESS projects under construction in Australia on an energy capacity basis.
