The Queensland government in Australia has granted an approval for the Clarke Creek wind farm to be developed by Lacour Energy with an investment of A$1 billion ($760 million).
The Clarke Creek wind project will have a capacity of more than 800 megawatts, which will be generated by a total of 195 wind turbines.
The company will be concluding the feasibility study of the wind farm by the year-end with an aim to begin construction in early 2019.
Once operational, the Clarke Creek wind and solar farm project is expected to produce more than 1800GWh, which represents more than 3 percent of the annual requirement of electricity in Queensland on average every year. The new renewable generation facility will also offset 1.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide annually.
