PSERS expects 25% net return on investments in past year

by Kali Persall

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS) is estimated to have a preliminary net investment return of more than 25 percent for the 2020–2021 fiscal year, according to Jason Davis, PSERS trustee and chair of the board’s investment committee.

PSERS’ estimated net return is more than 17 percentage points higher than the fund’s assumed rate of return and is projected to generate preliminary, unaudited investment income of more than $12 billion. The system’s assumed return rate is 7.25 percent.

Davis said the final return data will be released later this year.
