The $52.7 billion Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System has committed $100 million to Avenue Energy Opportunities II, according to press secretary Evelyn Williams.

Avenue Energy Opportunities Fund II is managed by Avenue Capital Group. The opportunistic infrastructure fund specializes in buyouts and senior debt investments and investments in stressed and distressed energy, power, and utilities companies, mainly in North America. It prefers to take a majority stake in its investments.

The fund’s predecessor, Avenue Energy Opportunities, raised $700 million in 2015.

Headquartered in New York, with four offices across Europe and an additional five offices throughout Asia, the firm manages assets estimated at approximately $10.2 billion as of May 31, 2017.
