Presidential candidates at odds regarding infrastructure investing

As climate pressures continue to heat up, presidential candidates remain divided in their approaches to infrastructure investing.

President Donald Trump is expected to announce his final plans to speed up the permitting process for infrastructure projects, sparking controversy in some climate groups that have voiced concerns about the rollback of environmental regulations.

Trump is expected to announce the federal rule today, which would accelerate the environmental review process for proposed highways, gas pipelines and other major infrastructure by updating the 50-year old bedrock National Environmental Protection Act.

Meanwhile, presidential candidate Joe Biden has unveiled a climate plan that proposes to spend $2 billion on clean-energy infrastructure over his first term as president. The plan also proposes to slash carbon emissions to zero by 2035, according to Mercury News.
