President Biden and a bipartisan group of senators have unveiled what they are calling a once-in-a-generation investment in America’s infrastructure.
The $550 billion Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal will provide the largest-ever federal investment in public transit, represent the single largest dedicated bridge investment since the construction of the interstate highway system, mark the largest investment in clean drinking water and wastewater infrastructure in American history, ensure nationwide access to reliable high-speed internet, and help tackle the climate crisis by making the largest investment in clean-energy transmission and electric-vehicle infrastructure in history.
It also represents the largest federal investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak.
The deal will now be taken up in the Senate for consideration.
