Pennsylvania pension fund looks to invest in infrastructure

by Kali Persall

The Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS) has increased its allocation to infrastructure assets as part of a systemwide amendment to its allocation strategy.

“This is the most important process the board goes through each year,” said Glen Grell, executive director of PSERS in a statement. “It sets the guardrails for how the investment team invests money.”

The changes include minor changes to some asset classes’ performance benchmarks and percentage weights, according to the pension fund.

In its infrastructure asset class, PERS has plans to increase its private infrastructure target to 1 percent from zero.
