Seth Kelly, CIO for the Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System (PennSRS), has resigned from his post after a year in the role.
According to various news reports, Kelly is leaving to pursue another career opportunity, which was undisclosed.
James Nolan, deputy CIO, has been appointed to serve as acting CIO while the board seeks a permanent replacement.
Kelly joined PennSRS in June 2020, bringing more than 20 years of experience in the investment management industry. He previously spent 16 years at the Missouri State Employees Retirement System (MOSERS), where he was CIO for the last four years of his term. Under Kelly’s leadership, MOSERS’ investment team focused on strategies that emphasized diversification, fee reduction, strategic asset allocation and prudent risk management.
In addition, PennSRS executive director Terrill Sanchez is planning to retire on Dec. 31. The search for a replacement is already under way.
