Partners Group, acting on behalf of its clients, has agreed to sell Greenlink Interconnector, a 504-megawatt subsea electricity interconnector linking Great Britain and Ireland, to Equitix and Baltic Cable AB. The transaction values Greenlink at more than €1 billion ($1.1 billion).
Equitix has been an investor in offshore transmission for more than 12 years, and Baltic Cable AB is a certified transmission system operator that has been operating an interconnector between Germany and Sweden for more than 30 years.
Interconnectors are critical to power markets across Europe and are a key enabler for the energy transition. Greenlink is regulated by Ofgem (Office of Gas and Electricity Markets) and CRU (Commission for Regulation of Utilities), the energy regulators for Great Britain and Ireland, respectively.
