Orrick has hired Richard Hanson as a partner, adding to a recent bout of new appointments to the law firm’s London office.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rick and continue to expand our London office with rising stars who support our global focus in the finance, tech and energy and infrastructure sectors,” said Simon Willis, Orrick’s London office leader.
Hanson, joins the company from Ropes & Gray. Prior to that, he worked at PIMCO as a consultant, held several positions at Linklaters over a period of nine years, and worked as a secondee of global securitized markets at Citi. He also trained as a secondee at Credit Suisse.
Hanson has advised on structured finance, securitization and derivatives-based financings for funds, asset managers and investment trusts, according to Orrick.
He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford and his graduate diploma in law from Nottingham Law School.
“Rick is an up-and-coming finance lawyer who has advised on some of the most innovative structured finance and funds-related transactions,” said Hervé Touraine, head of Orrick’s European Finance practice in a statement. “He is a strong complement to our market leading global structured finance practice.”
Hanson’s appointment follows several other recent additions to Orrick’s London office. The company also hired leading corporate advisor Ed Lukins who formerly worked at Cooley, along with Hannah Roscoe, formerly with Herbert Smith Freehills, and Jonathan Rosen, formerly with Akin Gump.
This follows the arrivals of James Connor and Daniel Wayte as partners in Orrick’s M&A and private equity group in 2018.
