The Orange County Employees Retirement System (OCERS) has committed $75 million to EQT Infrastructure V, IREI understands.
EQT Infrastructure V opened to investors in June 2020 and reached its target of €12.5 billion ($14.7 billion) in a first closing in March. EQT expects to hit the fund’s hard cap of €15 billion ($17.7 billion) during 2021.
The vehicle will invest in infrastructure and infrastructure-like assets, targeting five main sectors in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific: telecommunications, energy, transport and logistics, environmental infrastructure, and social infrastructure.
The fund’s predecessor, Fund IV, primarily pursued investment opportunities in Europe and North America, as well as opportunistic investments in Asia Pacific. Fund IV closed in March 2019 at its hard cap of €9 billion ($10.6 billion).
