The ever-growing scale of digitization is unlocking a world of buying and selling opportunities that have, until recently, evaded investment professionals.
Alternative assets are increasingly making the shift from traditional paper-based securities to digital ones, enabling market participants to buy, sell and list a range of alternative assets in the secondary market in a way they were previously unable to, according to Juan Hernandez, co-founder and CEO of OpenFinance. He notes this is indicative of a bigger trend of “democratization of finance,” which gives investors more entry points into secondary markets and access to liquid assets.
“Digitization to us is really an industry response to the growing investor demands that are being made,” he said in a video interview with Real Assets Adviser. “It really is about the investor demand for more control and flexibility over their investment decisions, their financial future.”
