Onyx Renewable Partners CEO steps down after six years

by Kali Persall

Ja Kao, president and CEO of Onyx Renewable Partners, has left her post after six years. Onyx is a renewable energy development company established by funds managed by Blackstone Energy Partners.

“As some know, after six years of building and leading Onyx, I resigned earlier this spring,” said Kao in a LinkedIn post. “It was truly my honor to lead, mentor and nurture such an amazing team.”

She added: “I am looking forward to the next chapter of my life.”

Kao remains on the board of directors of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE), where she has served since 2016. For the time being, she will continue supporting ACORE's mission to advance and support the pan-renewables sector.

Earlier in her career, Kao served as a managing director for The Blackstone Group.
