Oklahoma Gas and Electric adds 5MW of solar capacity in the state

by Kali Persall

Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E) is expanding its Choctaw Nation/OG&E Solar Energy Center with the addition of 5 megawatts of solar capacity, bringing the company’s total capacity to 10 megawatts.

OG&E will construct, own and operate the 5-megawatt expansion, which is expected to come online by the end of 2021.

“We are proud to continue our collaboration with the Choctaw Nation with this expansion of the Solar Energy Center in Durant,” said Sean Trauschke, chairman, president and CEO of OGE Energy. “With this addition, we continue to advance our popular customer-driven renewable energy offerings.”

OG&E said it is also currently building a 5-megawatt solar facility in Arkansas — the company’s first universal solar offering to Arkansas customers. The facility is expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.
