Ohio SERS to increase allocation to real assets, focus on core

The $12.3 billion School Employees Retirement System of Ohio has released its fiscal year 2015 investment plan, which details more specifically its strategy for upping its allocation to real assets to 15 percent (from 12 percent in fiscal year 2014 and 10 percent in fiscal year 2013) by the end of fiscal year 2015.

Noting in plan documents that the “continued global demand for core properties pushed the NCREIF Property Index to its fourth consecutive year of outstanding returns for commercial and multifamily real estate,” Ohio SERS will look to increase core real asset strategies to 60–70 percent of the total global real assets portfolio from the current level of 54 percent, and subsequently de
