Oaktree raises nearly $3b for sixth fund
Oaktree Capital Management has raised approximately $2.66 billion for its sixth fund, according to two separate recent filings with the SEC. The firm was scheduled to hold a final close at the end of 2013; however, the firm has not released a formal announcement, and the filing didn’t identify a close date.
Oaktree Real Estate Opportunity Fund VI launched in May 2012 with a $2.3 billion fundraising goal. The opportunistic fund is designed to invest in properties, operating companies and debt, including CMBS. It is mainly focused on the United States, but will also invest in foreign markets.
The vehicle’s predecessor, Oaktree Real Estate Opportunity Fund V, had raised $1.28 billion of equity and closed in 2012.
