New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) has disclosed two real estate investments for the month of August: one with a European fund and the other with a U.S.–based fund.
The first consists of a €200 million ($235 million) investment in Nordic Strategies Fund IV, a closed-ended diversified opportunistic fund focused on investing in commercial and residential real estate in the Nordic Region, which encompasses the countries of Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. The fund is managed by NREP AB, a partner-owned pan-Nordic real estate investment manager.
NYSCRF said this represents a new relationship for the pension fund. The investment closed on Aug. 24.
The other investment was $150 million in the Cortland Enhanced Value Fund V, a closed-end commingled enhanced return/value fund sponsored by Cortland Partners and managed by Cortland Investment Management.
