NYSCRF commits $500m to real estate funds in August

The New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF) committed $500 million to two real estate funds in August, according to a recently released monthly transaction report.

The $210.5 billion pension fund committed $300 million to JPM Star Lake Fund III, sponsored by J.P. Morgan Real Estate, which operates as a unit within J.P. Morgan Investment Management Inc. Star Lake III is captive fund of one focused on core and noncore opportunities in the United States.

The investment closed on Aug. 20 and was funded from short-term cash.

NYSCRF also committed $200 million to EPNY Ventures I, a joint venture formed with Ellis Partners that focuses on acquiring and managing core office, industrial and retail properties in the San Francisco Bay Area.
